This post is to pay homage to the blessed soul of legendary Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam, 11th President of India, who passed away today (July 27, 2015) while doing something that he loved a lot to do – sharing knowledge and wisdom to students during a lecture at IIM, Shillong. He is the true ‘Bharat Ratna’ of India, who has been the face of innovative India for decades now. He is rightly known as the ‘Missile man’ of India for his exemplary work in the field of science and technology. Even at this age of 83, he was active enough to deliver lectures to students and spend time with them. Such is the greatness of Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam. He has been an inspiration for several generations of Indians and shall continue to remain so. No words will be enough to praise this humble person and may his soul rest in utmost peace! It will be difficult to find a person like him, but, instead it will be great if millions can follow the footsteps of Dr.Kalam and show 100% commitment towards their work and nation.
Even PM Narendra Modi has paid tribute to this legend calling him a ‘marg darshak’. There has been an announcement of 7 days of national mourn as a tribute to this great personality. He has been awarded the ‘Padma Bhushan’ and ‘Padma Vibhushan’. He was the project director of India’s first satellite launch vehicle that deployed the Rohini satellite in earth’s orbit in 1980. He was also the chief project coordinator during the Pokhran-II nuclear tests. We can go on and on, but his contribution to India is so immense that it will take days to list down all his achievements. The objective is to understand the person that he was. If there is any solace, he was working even today when he breathe his last. He devoted his entire life to spread knowledge and was immensely successful at that, which is a major reason why he is so famous with kids and students.
Let’s take this opportunity to salute the great Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam and his significant work. May his soul rest in peace and may we all continue to keep him alive amongst us by trying to build an India of his dreams. He said that “Dreams are not that you see while you are sleeping; Dreams are those that keep you from sleeping”. Jai Hind!
