Metro Rail projects when implemented successfully help to ease out public transportation in cities and towns. Madhya Pradesh has now got approval form Union Cabinet for two such metro train projects in Indore and Bhopal. MPMRCL (Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Co Ltd) has been constituted for seamless implementation of both these metro rail projects. This announcement is right in time as assembly elections are scheduled to be held in MP later in 2018.
The cost estimate for the Indore Metro rail project is around INR 7500.80 crore, with an estimated timeline for completion to be of four years. This metro rail line will be running along the ‘Ring Line’ that encompasses areas like Bengali Square -> Vijay Nagar -> Bhawarsala -> Airport -> Patasia -> Bengali Square. The cost estimate for the Bhopal Metro rail project is around INR 6941.40 crore, with an estimated timeline of four years. This metro project will encompass two corridors – Bhadbhada Square to Ratnagiri Tiraha, as well as Karond Circle to AIIMS.
